True Crime: Murder, Mystery & Makeup by Bailey Sarian

Do murder, mystery AND makeup actually go together?

Let’s start with an admission of guilt: I am a true crime junkie!

Also, being a novelist and a consumer of stories, I adore good storytellers. And when you combine great storytelling, true crime, and fascinating entertainment… Count. Me. In.

I can’t even remember how I discovered Bailey Sarian, but I am so glad I did, and I want you to discover her, too. Mainly because you need this in your life.

Who is Bailey Sarian?

I do not typically watch makeup videos on YouTube. Having said that, I watch two makeup YouTubers when I need a little break from work totally for entertainment purposes because I like these two particular YouTubers’ personalities.

The first one I want to talk about is Bailey Sarian, the creator of Murder, Mystery & Makeup. According to her YouTube About page, Bailey is a makeup artist and has worked in the makeup industry for eight years.

Personal observation: Bailey is beautiful before she puts even a dab of makeup on her face. It’s also absolutely fascinating to watch her transform her face with makeup while telling a true crime mystery. Watch one episode of Murder, Mystery & Makeup and tell me you don’t agree.

Why Murder, Mystery and Makeup?

I think that Bailey is simply demonstrating that we can all have multiple and wide interests. While it’s fairly easy to assume that me, as a writer of thrillers and suspense, would be interested in true crime, it’s a lot more difficult to connect Bailey the makeup artist to the subject. At the same time, I’m not surprised. A huge part of our population are drawn into these unsolved and/or peculiar real life mysteries. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have this endless supply of television shows, podcasts, documentaries, and docuseries dedicated to the subject.

Whatever the case, I think Bailey has found one of the most unique ways to connect two very different interests into one fabulous form of entertainment.
